Kodak B&W Roll

My second roll of film! Tried my best to find things that contrast naturally. To be completely honest, I wasn’t a huge fan of b&w— I live for color— but I wasn’t going to waste this precious free roll of film. After the photos were developed, I was really impressed by the story and depth of a few of the images. Black and white carries such a specific tone— to take away the color and leave just the frame. It allows the imagination to play and the mind to meditate.

The majority of these were taken on a little walk with my partner in South Philly. A nice, easy, stroll.

Once I got home, I realized I only had 7 frames left. What to do with seven frames? I popped on my favorite black tee and a thrifted sheer tunic I got at Buffalo Exchange a couple years back, duct taped my camera to the tripod, and clicked away (well timer-ed away, but still).

Despite the blinking and the limited shots, I was really happy with the self-portraits. It always takes a little bit more effort but it proves itself worthy quickly. The black and white created a new depth to the image I wasn’t expecting. Maybe it was the gloominess of the day we strolled through the park or the bare trees lurking— creeping closer. For some reason this was the first time I really felt emotion from a black and white image of mine. I was happy to capture these moments in a suiting way. Enjoy the roll!
